Powertrain Dynamometer

There is a growing demand for gearbox performance and electric-axle testbeds due to the movement to EV globallyin the transportation industry. As technology of motor and battery evolves, line voltage will increase and efficiency studies will be crucial. Packaging of e-axles and high speed transmission products will be a large focus for size and weight. This application need will continue to grow as the powertrain technologies evolve.

KMW designs and manufactures Powertrain Dynamometers with the ability to test E-Motor, Electric Gearboxes, or Electric Axles on a single testbed platform. The intent is to be able to give the user a complete range of capability:

Gear box ( Test Focus: peak performance, thermal, durability, drag loss, efficiency map, NVH, park-lock, de-coupling, short circuit test, seal surface pressure.)

EDU (Electric Drive Unit) ( Test Focus: peak torque, durability, efficiency, coolant flow, stall, heat rejection tests)
